Home Schooling Procedures

Students between the age of seven and sixteen must be enrolled in a public, private, parochial, or homeschool program. Listed below are the procedures for establishing a home-based educational program. For more detailed information, click on the link to Home Schooling procedures or go to the Colorado Department of Education website (www.cde.state.co.us)

Parents/Guardians must file a "Notice of Intent to Homeschool" with a school district in Colorado within 14 days before the program is established and each year thereafter. WPSD has moved to a digital Intent to Home School form, which can be completed through the online registration process by clicking the button below. If you prefer to send in written notification, this written notification must certify in writing the name, age, grade, physical address, parent or guardian email address, and the number of hours of attendance for each child enrolled in the program. Completed forms should be sent to: Erika Perea, Woodland Park School District, PO Box 99, Woodland Park, CO 80866 or you can email to: eperea@wpsdk12.org. Homeschool registration for the next school year will usually open in March, so please complete the online registration or send in the written intent to homeschool between then and the first day of school (mid-late August each year). If you choose to homeschool your child after August, you can prorate the number of hours based on when you will begin homeschooling.

Each student in a home-based program must be tested and/or evaluated in grades 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11. If the student's composite score is above the 13th percentile, the student remains eligible for the home-based educational program.
