November 2016 is Jalia Ball – Jalia is a junior who is very active in the Best Buddies program here at WPHS. Whenever she is not doing great work on her coursework here, she loves to work on video games and spend time with family. Well done Jalia!
December 2016 is Dominic Roskam – Dominic is a junior and a member of the football and track and field teams. Dominic is also an active participant in Best Buddies. Dominic displays a nurturing demeanor and is a great ambassador for Woodland Park High School. He is a wonderful young man with a bright future, congrats Dom!
January 2017 is Mackenzie Morrison – Mackenzie is a senior and will be attending college toward Equine Vet/Vet Tech. She is a hard-working young woman who puts 100% of her effort into all that she does. As a member of Student Council for her junior and senior years she is a motivating factor behind the spirit and vibe in our school. As a junior class representative she successfully organized the 2016 Junior Prom alongside two of her peers. Together they effectively budgeted and decorated the event toward success. She has a quiet confidence and strength that runs deep with pride and a sense of purpose. Along with Prom she was also on the Drive Smart Committee and as a committee member she wrote an award winning essay and was the recipient in the El Paso and Teller County regions. The essay was a deeply touching body of work written eloquently titled “sixteen”.

If you have received acceptance letters to college or award letters for scholarships, please be sure to bring copies of them to Mrs. Rucker in the Counseling Office.
All students requesting to be excused for a college visit, MUST SEE your counselor PRIOR to the date of your visit in order for it to be considered an excused absence. This is especially important for seniors with the attendance policy in place regarding unexcused absences and attending senior activities.
This is a reminder that the registrar and counselors need five school days to process a transcript request, letters of recommendation, college application and scholarship. This is a busy time of the year so this deadline will be adhered to unless there is an extreme emergency. Waiting till the last minute on a due date is not an emergency, so please plan ahead.
