2016-2017 Columbine Elementary, SPRING Semester HERE

2016-2017, Little Mozart Project

Beginning and intermediate string instruction for 3rd – 5th graders (2nd graders considered too!) Violin, Viola, Cello, and Bass!

The Mozart String Project (Little Mozart) was started in 1994 by the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony in response to requests from families who lived in school districts without elementary string programs.  We accept 3rd – 5th graders (2nd graders with either music background or parent involvement are welcome too!)  Students come to class for 1 hour, 2 days a week and have 3 joint concerts with students from all sites (100  or more kids!) coming together to perform.  We also perform with and can feed into the 6 Youth Symphony audition groups.  NOTE:  Our top Youth Symphony audition group has performed throughout Europe, Asia, and at the Sydney Opera House in Australia!

CLASSES START ON TUESDAY SEPT, 20th, 2016  and are for 1 hour,  2 x week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Woodland Park Middle School – 600 E Kelly Road

Tentative times:  3:30 to 4:30 PM     Beginning Violin/Viola and possibly lower strings class
4:30 to 5:30 PM     Intermediate and Advanced class – all instruments. If we have 2 or more students enroll from Summit Elementary (which has a 4:00 dismissal time), Beginning and Intermediate class times may be reversed.
Depending on enrollment numbers, some classes may overlap – for example, the Intermediate class may go from 4:00 to 5:00 and the Advanced class from 4:30 to 5:30.

COST:
Our program will be $420 for the entire school year of instruction (which is about $15/ week, or $7/hour!)  Payments plans are available as well as financial aid for those who are eligible.  Students also participate in one fundraiser to keep prices low.  Instruments can be rented from Juan Mijares Violins, Meeker Music or Graner Music.
