Pledge Drive and FUN(d) Run

Background: WPMS is transitioning from a selling fundraising model to a direct-ask fundraising model. In this year’s all-school Color FUNdraiser Run Pledge Drive, students may ask for pledges or donations to benefit different aspects of WPMS. The fundraising goal for this year is $20,000. We can do this! In previous years, just the 6th graders sold chocolate to help cover their annual camp fees. While they were successful at selling $10,000 in chocolate, that only netted $5,000 for the camp fees. The chocolate fundraising company earns half of what the students sell. With a direct, tax-deductible pledge/donation fundraiser, 100% of the money raised by students stays at and benefits WPMS. Please note that this year, the Music Department, sports teams, extra-curricular clubs, and specialized activities like Marine Lab and overseas travel are not funded by the Color FUNdraiser Run.

Pledges and donations are tax deductible if made to “WPSD Foundation” or online through www.wpsdfoundation.org (directions at the end of this sheet). The Color FUNdraiser Run pledge drive is from Monday, Sept. 25th to Monday, Oct. 9th. The donations will directly support: 1. Maintenance of the PE exercise machines; 2. Supplemental playground equipment and improvement for the health, safety and enjoyment of all students; 3. Camp and field trip fees;  4. Outdoor entrance electric communication sign; 5. Hydration stations; and 6. CAP (Caring Active Parents) grants to WPMS staff.

How the Pledge Drive Works: Students will bring home their pledge sheet/permission slip envelopes on Monday, Sept. 25th. The pledge sheet is on one side, and the permission slip/liability release/parent-guardian sign-up is on the other. Parents/guardians are invited to join the fun and walk, run, skip, or jog with their student (No pets, please). Students must return the pledge envelope by Monday, October 9th to be eligible to participate in the Color FUNd Run on Wednesday, Oct. 11th. Acquiring pledges is greatly encouraged, but the signed permission slip and liability release on the back of the pledge envelope are MANDATORY to participate in the Color FUNd Run.

Color FUNd Run: WPMS and CAP will host the 4th Annual Color FUNdraiser Run on Wednesday, October 11th, 2017 to celebrate the successful Color FUNdraiser Run Pledge Drive, promote physical health within our community, and have FUN enjoying a WPMS Homecoming Week event. The Color FUNdraiser Run is a fun, non-competitive 10-minute walk, jog, run, or skip around the WPMS track in which participants are doused from head to toe in different colors every two minutes.

Please note that this event is designed to include all WPMS students and will take place during school hours. Those students not returning the permission slip or opting out of the Color FUNdraiser Run will be cheering for their peers from the bleachers.

2:19 – 2:29 7th Grade

2:34 – 2:44 – 8th grade

Participating students may wear white (or clothes they don’t mind getting colorful) apparel such as shirts, shorts, pants, and hat. They may also bring a water bottle, sunglasses, sunscreen, swim goggles, and bandanas to cover eyes, mouth, and nose. Make it FUN and SILLY! Wacky (school appropriate, of course) costumes are acceptable! Check with your ROAR teacher to come up with a theme for your class! CAP will also have white clothing items for sale in the weeks before the Color FUNdraiser Run.

Please bring a towel at pick-up! Note that the color may not come out of clothes and will take a few showers to come out of hair. Colors are non-toxic, skin friendly, and not harmful to the environment.

Composition:  Starch Powder-99.30%, Natural Perfumes-0.20%, Dyes-0.50%.

How to Donate: All forms of donations are accepted: cash, check or credit cards online. Please record all pledges/donations on the Pledge Envelope.

Checks made payable to “WPSD Foundation” are tax deductible.

  3. Enter amount of donation
  4. Click DIRECT YOUR DONATION (REQUIRED)
  5. In DIRECT YOUR DONATION BOX, type: “WPMS COLOR RUN – Student’s Name”
  6. Enter the debit or credit card information, then click Review Donation and Continue
  7. Click “DONATE NOW”
  8. Your tax-deductible receipt will be emailed to you
  9. Remember to note all donations on pledge envelope.

The Woodland Park Re-2 School District Foundation has been designated by the United States Internal Revenue Service as a non-profit organization under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations and contributions made to the Foundation are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by applicable law.
